David Brown - Jung’s Map of the Five Functions
David will present a talk on Jung’s 5 Functions: The Functions of Consciousness. These functions refer to the different ways in which the conscious mind can apprehend reality. According to Jung, these are (a) Sensation, (b) Intuition, (c) Thinking and (d) Feeling. David will also invite us to explore the implications of the shadow, which operates outside of our conscious awareness as a one-sided use of one or two functions at the expense of the other. Functions can be seen as working against wholeness or 'individuation.' In other words we can talk about shadow functions or functions largely in shadow.
